Overview
MatterCue is designed to help law firms turn selected email threads into summaries, action items, billing suggestions, follow-up reminders, and reviewable workflow outputs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information submitted to MatterCue.
Information We Collect
MatterCue collects account information provided during signup and billing, including:
- Name, email address, and firm name
- Account role and portal activity
- Subscription plan, billing status, and usage information
- Payment information processed through Stripe (see below)
Email Content Processed by MatterCue
MatterCue processes email content only when users intentionally send, forward, or CC email threads to MatterCue. MatterCue does not monitor user inboxes, does not access email accounts generally, does not send replies automatically, and does not mark tasks resolved automatically.
When email content is submitted, MatterCue may process:
- Email subjects, sender and recipient information, and message bodies
- Attachments if included in the submitted thread
- Generated summaries, action items, reminders, and billing suggestions
- Task status and portal activity related to that content
Users should only submit information they are authorized to process through MatterCue.
How We Use Information
We use collected and submitted information to:
- Provide the MatterCue service and generate workflow outputs
- Maintain and manage user accounts and firm subscriptions
- Process payments and manage billing through Stripe
- Send transactional emails related to the service
- Provide customer support
- Maintain security and prevent unauthorized access or abuse
- Improve reliability and service performance
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
How We Share Information
MatterCue may share information with service providers necessary to operate the service, including providers for hosting, database services, authentication, email delivery, automation, AI processing, analytics, and payment processing. These providers are used only as needed to deliver the service and are not permitted to use your information for their own unrelated purposes.
MatterCue does not sell personal information.
Stripe and Payment Processing
MatterCue uses Stripe for payment processing and subscription management. MatterCue does not store full payment card numbers on its own systems. Payment information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's privacy policy and security standards. Subscription changes, payment method updates, invoice access, and cancellations may be managed through Stripe Customer Portal.
Data Retention
MatterCue retains information as needed to provide the service, maintain unresolved task records, support customer accounts, comply with legal obligations, and improve system reliability. Customers may request deletion of their data by contacting us.
Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information submitted to MatterCue. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should avoid submitting information they are not authorized to process.
User Responsibilities
Users are responsible for ensuring that any email content or other information submitted to MatterCue is submitted with appropriate authorization and in compliance with applicable professional, confidentiality, privacy, and security obligations. MatterCue outputs are provided for human review and should not be relied upon without independent verification.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on the MatterCue website with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of MatterCue after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
